Pilot terms and privacy notice

Version 2026-09-pilot-3. Closed insider pilot. Plain-language draft, not yet reviewed by a lawyer.

What GoSafe is

GoSafe is a pilot run by its founders, Charl le Roux and Ian Groenewald, for a small group of invited people. It holds a buyer's payment in escrow until the buyer confirms the goods arrived. During the pilot the money is held in a bank account of Yield SPM (Pty) Ltd, the company the founders use to run the pilot; your payment instructions name that account. GoSafe is not a bank, and no regulatory approval is claimed. Payments are capped at R500 per escrow during the pilot.

How the money moves

  • The buyer pays the price plus half of the 1.5% fee, by PayShap or EFT, with the escrow reference. Only an exact amount is matched.
  • The money is released to the seller (price less the other half of the fee) only after the buyer confirms with a 6-digit code sent to their phone, or after the confirmation window passes with no dispute. During the pilot, a GoSafe team member who is not part of the deal approves every release and every refund.
  • If something is wrong, reply DISPUTE with the reference and a reason. The money stays held while our team looks at it.
  • Never share your confirmation code with anyone, including someone claiming to be GoSafe staff or a courier.

WhatsApp messages from GoSafe

By replying YES you agree that GoSafe may send you WhatsApp messages about your escrows, including updates when you have not messaged us recently: for example that a buyer has started an escrow with you, that your payment is held, that the item is delivered, or that a payment is approved. GoSafe does not send you advertising. Reply STOP at any time to stop GoSafe's messages.

What we keep and why (POPIA)

  • Your phone number and your messages to GoSafe, to run your escrows and answer you.
  • Escrow details (item, price, parties, status, payment references, confirmations and approvals), kept in a tamper-evident audit log so every step can be checked later.
  • Photos you send to GoSafe Check are assessed and deleted within one hour. Check records identify you only by a one-way code, not your number.

We use this only to run GoSafe. We do not sell it. It is processed by our service providers: Twilio (WhatsApp and SMS), Google Cloud (hosting and data, in South Africa), and our bank for payments. We keep escrow records for as long as we need them to run the escrow and to meet legal record-keeping duties.

Your choices

Reply STOP at any time to opt out. Your Check history is deleted, and GoSafe asks for your consent again if you return. Escrows that are already running must still be completed or refunded. To ask what we hold about you, or to correct it, reply HELP and our team will contact you.

By replying YES on WhatsApp you accept these pilot terms and this privacy notice, including GoSafe's WhatsApp messages about your escrows.
